[0029] The detailed description set forth below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings is intended as a description of exemplary implementations and is not intended to represent the only implementations that may be practiced. The term "exemplary" when used throughout this description means "serving as an example, instance, or illustration" and should not necessarily be construed as preferred or advantageous over other exemplary implementations. The detailed description contains specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough understanding of the exemplary embodiments. In some instances, some devices are shown in block diagram form.

[0030] Transferring power wirelessly may refer to transferring any form of energy associated with an electric, magnetic, electromagnetic, or other field from a transmitter to a receiver without the use of physical electrical conductors (eg, power may be transferred via free space). Power output to a wireless field (eg, magnetic or...

Abstract

Systems and methods for converting voltages between different voltage levels in a receiver are disclosed. In an aspect, a wireless power receiver apparatus for charging a chargeable device is provided. The apparatus includes a plurality of receive antennas disposed on a cover of the chargeable device, wherein at least one of the plurality of receive antennas is configured to wirelessly receive power according to a wireless charging protocol different from at least one other of the plurality of receive antennas. The apparatus includes a switching circuit disposed on the cover and configured to receive the wireless power from at least one of the plurality of receive antennas and selectively provide a respective voltage from a corresponding one of the plurality of receive antennas across an output configured to be connected to an input of the chargeable device.

Description

technical field [0001] This application relates generally to wireless power. More specifically, the present invention is directed to systems and methods for enabling a universal back cover wireless charging solution. Background technique [0002] Wireless charging implementations today use a back cover design where the antenna / resonator for the receiver and the power conversion printed circuit board (PCB) are placed in the back cover of the phone and the DC output is connected directly to the charging port on the main board of the PCB pin. Today we have multiple wireless charging standards, all of which typically provide different DC output voltages to the charging port pins. Handset OEMs designing phones with wireless charging will want to have a solution that allows them to use any back cover based wireless charging with an existing phone without making changes in the design of the phone. Currently, there is no such solution available. The following proposal is a solut...
