The method comprises steps of: acquiring a photo of a to-be-identified animal/plant that is taken by a mobile terminal; performing feature scanning on the to-be-identified animal/plant; comparing and matching a found feature with animal/plant photo samples in an animal/plant database; and if the matching is successful, acquiring a matching animal/plant photo sample from the animal/plant database, and displaying the matching animal/plant photo sample. Various animals and plants can be identified intelligently on the mobile terminal, which helps general users know new things rapidly.
