The method comprises steps of: acquiring a photo of a to-be-identified animal / plant that is taken by a mobile terminal; performing feature scanning on the to-be-identified animal / plant; comparing and matching a found feature with animal / plant photo samples in an animal / plant database; and if the matching is successful, acquiring a matching animal / plant photo sample from the animal / plant database, and displaying the matching animal / plant photo sample.
