Abstract
The invention discloses a method for determining the water burial depth most appropriate for the growth of cotton in seaside saline and alkaline land. The method comprises the following steps: (1) setting different water burial depth treatments to test the water content and electrical conductivity of soil in a concentrated root region during key cotton growth periods, thereby determining the water and salt content of the soil of the concentrated root region of the cotton with different water burial depths and during different growth periods; (2) testing the physiological indicators of the key cotton growth periods; (3) testing the cotton yield and fiber quality; (4) determining the optimal water burial depth by synthesizing the proper water and salt content and physiological indicators of the soil of the concentrated root region of the cotton. According to the method, the optimal water burial depth most appropriate for the growth of the cotton in the coastal reclamation area and helpful for achieving the purposes of salt removal and waterlogging reduction can be determined by virtue of using the groundwater burial depth as a medium, taking general spatial and temporal water and salt distribution researches conducted through the different water and salt treatments based on the water and salt change of the soil in the concentrated root region during the main cotton growth periods as a core, and employing the root system growth under the ground and the cotton yield and quality above the ground of cotton plants as the main indicators.
