Abstract

The method comprises the following steps: selecting a rhododendron plant amethyst (female) which is not suffering from pest and disease damage, is strong in growth vigor and is in an early flowering period and rhododendron decorum (male) as cross parents, selecting just colored flowers of the rhododendron decorum in the early of middle of April, removing petals and stamens at about 10a.m, only remaining pistils, pollinating the pistils with pollen of the amethyst and bagging, removing the capped bags within 7-10 days, picking fruits when the fruits turn yellow in the middle of November, and sowing the fruit in a greenhouse in the middle of December; by taking pure peat soil as a sowing medium, thoroughly watering the soil before seeding, cover the soil with a film and moisturizing until seedlings come out; transplanting the seedlings to a 50-mesh tray when 5-6 leaves of the seedlings grow, recovering the seedlings, pinching, and fertilizing the seedlings with a 0.2 percent Huaduoduo balance fertilizer once every 10-15 days; and planting the seedlings in nutrition bags after 3-4 months, and performing regular management.
