Abstract

The present invention provides a printing system and a printer in which setting of an information terminal is relatively easy when POS application software operated by a server is used from the information terminal. The POS system includes a server on which POS application software operates, an information terminal, and a printer communicably connected to the server via the Internet. The printer includes: a local communication unit that establishes communication with the information terminal; a communication relay unit that connects the server so that it can communicate with the information terminal; setting information; and an application setting unit that sets the POS application software based on the setting information so that the POS application software can be used from the information terminal.
