The system comprises an automatic fruit monitoring device, a communication device and a server terminal calculating device. Fruit image information is obtained through the automatic fruit monitoring device, an image is transmitted to a server through a transmission device, fruit size and color dynamic change information is obtained through image calculation, and important reference information is provided for production management of fruit trees. According to the automatic monitoring system, the fruit size is calculated through a method with the combination of an external connection maximum rectangular and a reference substance, the actual fruit color is calculated through color deviation comparison between fruit colors and a background plate or the reference substance. According to the automatic monitoring system and method, remote real-time monitoring of field fruits can be achieved, working efficiency is remarkably improved, meanwhile, the important reference decision is provided for production management of the fruit trees, and production of high-quality fruits is facilitated.
