Embodiment Construction

[0016] Bandage 10 of the present invention (see figure 1 & figure 2 ) includes a backing 20, a pressure sensitive adhesive on the surface of the backing, and an absorbent pad 30.

[0017] Backing

[0018] A wide variety of materials can be used to form backing 20 . The backing 20 can be tearable or non-tearable, elastic or inelastic, stretchable or non-stretchable, porous or non-porous. The backing can be in the form of monolayer or multilayer films, nonwoven films, porous films, foamed films, and combinations thereof. The backing can also be made of a filled material, such as a filled film (eg, calcium carbonate filled polyolefin).

[0019] Film backings can be made by any known film-forming method, such as extrusion, coextrusion, solvent casting, foaming, nonwoven techniques, and the like. The backing 20 can be of a wide variety of thicknesses so long as it possesses sufficient integrity to be able to be handled.

Abstract

The present invention relates to a dual purpose adhesive bandage comprising a backing, a pressure sensitive adhesive disposed on the backing, and an absorbent pad adhered to the backing. The absorbent pad is configured to form a pouch having at least one open end to releasably receive a thermal pack. The heat management kit includes the dual purpose bandage and heat pack.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a medical adhesive bandage that can also secure a thermal pack and a kit comprising the medical adhesive bandage and a thermal pack. Background technique [0002] Pressure sensitive medical tapes and bandages are widely used. Medical adhesive bandages are used to cover cuts, abrasions and other skin conditions or wounds. Medical adhesive bandages typically include a backing, an absorbent pad, and a pressure sensitive adhesive to hold the bandage in place. [0003] Therapeutic devices including materials that can be used as heat or cold compresses are also widely used. Such devices (often referred to as heat packs or cold packs) typically include a sealed envelope with a material such as thermogel inside, which can be used to apply heat or cold as desired (i.e., the material acts as a source of heat or cooling, respectively. ). [0004] Heat and cold packs are usually held in place by the patient being treated. This...
