Abstract

The invention discloses an automatic configuration server selection method and a system, a domain name system and a home gateway. The method is used in a communication system which comprises the home gateway, the domain name system, a universal resource localizer and automatic configuration servers. The method comprises the following steps: the corresponding relations of a universal resource localizer and a plurality of IP addresses are configured in the domain name system, wherein each IP address corresponds to one automatic configuration server; the domain name system receives an analysis request transmitted by the home gateway according to the preset universal resource localizer, and transmits the multiple IP addresses corresponding to the universal resource localizer to the home gateway according to the analysis request; and the home gateway randomly selects one IP address from the received multiple IP addresses, and transmits an access request to the automatic configuration server corresponding to the selected IP address, thereby reducing the development cost for hardware and software.
