Abstract

The inside of an outdoor unit body (1) is partitioned by a partition plate (7) into a heat exchange chamber (8A) for receiving a heat exchanger (10) and a fan (13) and into a machine chamber (8B) for receiving a compressor (15) and piping (5) or the like. An electric component box (20) is installed between the outdoor unit body (1) and the upper end of the partition plate (7). A control board (24) is received in a horizontal position in the electric component box (20) with that surface of the control board (24) which has an electric component (D) mounted thereon facing downward. An opening (K) for laying a lead wire is formed in the bottom side of the electric component box (20). A wiring cover (25) is slidably installed on the bottom side of the electric component box (20) to make the opening (K) openable and closable. The construction minimizes possibility of dropping of the electric component (D) to the outside when an electric failure occurs.
