The invention provides a concordant heterogeneous wireless network and a communication method thereof, a Silkroad access router is positioned on the boundary of a IPv4 Internet and a IPv6 network; a home agent equipment is a wireless WAN service based on the IPv4, and positioned in the network based on the IPv6; a multi-mode mobile terminal passes through the wireless WAN based on IPv4 via a Silkroad tunnel mechanism, and establishes a tunnel with the IPv6 network; the multi-mode mobile terminal sends a corresponding route notice to a corresponding tunnel interface according to tunnel parameters, and realizes the communication with the IPv6 network. Through the invention, a MIPv6 protocol can be executed in the IPv4 wireless WAN including a network address conversion equipment or a fire wall, in order to provide an uniform seamless mobile environment and a complete MIPv6 service function for the multi-mode mobile terminal, and therefore, the link load of the wireless WAN is greatly reduced.
