Problems solved by technology

Therefore, if the step-down rate (i.e., power-saving rate) is set too high, the peak value of the output voltage may drop below the specified value for the lighting device 58, which will potentially affect the operation of the lighting device 58
In particular, such power-saving systems can sometimes cause lighting failures in fluorescent lamps if used with them

Abstract

The invention efficiently saves power using a compact and light constitution without a malfunction in a lighting fixture. A power saving apparatus 1 is provided with a power control unit 3 for controlling a power consumption in a fluorescent lamp 2, and a controller 4 for remotely operating the power control unit 3. The power control unit 3 is provided with a triac 7 for partially cutting an AC voltage waveform, a control circuit 8 for controlling the triac 7, and a receiving circuit 9 for receiving control information on the triac 7. The controller 4 is provided with a configuration circuit 14 for configuring the control information, and a transmitting circuit 15 for transmitting the control information. The transmitting circuit 15 in the controller 4 and the receiving circuit 9 in the power control unit 3 are connected by a communication line 17.

Description

[0001] related application [0002] This application claims priority from Japanese Patent Application No. 2005-160911 filed on June 1, 2005. technical field [0003] The present invention relates generally to devices and systems for conserving power consumed by lighting fixtures. More particularly, the present invention relates to power saving devices and systems suitable for saving power in fluorescent lamps. Background technique [0004] Traditionally, power savers are known to use transformers to save power consumed by lighting equipment. FIG. 4 shows such a power saving device / unit 51 comprising a setting circuit 53 , a control circuit 54 and a voltage regulation circuit 55 all housed in a case 52 . As shown in FIG. 5 , the voltage adjustment circuit 55 is composed of a transformer 56 and a plurality of electromagnetic contactors 57 , and the electromagnetic contactors 57 are used to switch the tap voltage of the transformer 56 . The setting circuit 52 is used to set ...
