Abstract

The present invention provides a zoom optical system with a wide field of view and a long reverse focal length. The system is provided in order from front to back: a first lens unit with a negative refractive power that is in a stationary state for zooming, and a lens unit with a positive refractive power. The second lens unit, the third lens unit with negative refractive power, the fourth lens unit, the fifth lens unit with negative refractive power, and the sixth lens unit with positive refractive power in a fixed state for zooming. When the focal length of the first lens unit L1 is denoted as f1, the air-converted back focal length is denoted as bf, and the focal length of the entire system at the wide-angle end is denoted as fw, the following conditions are satisfied: 1.7<bf / (|f1|·fw)1 / 2<2.3 . By satisfying this condition, various aberrations caused by zooming are corrected satisfactorily while achieving miniaturization of the entire lens system, and excellent optical performance is obtained on the entire screen.

Description

[0001] The present invention is a divisional application of patent application No. 200410056597.8 filed on August 11, 2004, entitled "Zoom Optical System, Projection Optical System, and Image Projection Device Using the System". technical field [0002] The present invention relates to a zoom optical system or a projection optical system, for example, a projection optical system suitable for an image projection device that enlarges and projects an original image onto a screen (projection surface). Background technique [0003] Conventionally, various liquid crystal projectors (image projection devices) using an image display element such as a liquid crystal display element and projecting an image (original image) displayed on the display element onto a screen surface (projection surface) have been proposed. [0004] In particular, liquid crystal projectors are widely used in conferences and presentation halls as devices capable of projecting images from a microcomputer or the...
