Problems solved by technology

This model is not suitable to meet the needs of operators, because it is difficult to estimate the possible growth function in a single cell
In other words, projections of future traffic volumes are inaccurate due to the use of less complex mathematical models
[0006] In short, the traditional wireless communication system is not accurate enough to estimate the demand of users during the access peak period, and the estimation of future traffic growth is not accurate enough
As a result, wireless service providers cannot optimally provide resources to meet user needs

Embodiment Construction

[0025] By reference Figure 1 to Figure 8 The preferred embodiments of the present invention can be well understood. In these drawings, similar numbers are used to indicate corresponding and similar components.

[0026] reference figure 1 , Which shows a wireless communication system that can adopt a form of the present invention. figure 1 Explain that an arbitrary geographic area can be divided into multiple continuous radio coverage areas, namely cells A to J, which together form a wireless communication system, represented by the number 100. although figure 1 The illustrated wireless communication system and 100 are illustrated as including 10 cells, but it should be understood that the actual number of cells can be much larger. When describing the principle of the present invention, the personal digital cellular system (PDC) currently deployed in Japan (previously called the Japanese Digital Cellular System (JDC)) will be described. However, it should be understood that the ...

Abstract

A method and system in a wireless communications system (100) enables a network operator to accomodate subscriber demands (650) by matching resources (230, 240) to current, congested traffic levels (620) and future, predicted traffic levels (640). The accommodation may be effectuated at the cell level, and the applicable resurces include transceivers (TRXs)(240). A given base station (B1) in a network (100) records variables on preferably at least three occasions (810, 820, 830). The variables include time of measurement (420), mean traffic level (TL)(430), busy hour TL (440), and current number of TRXs (450). These four variables may then be used in a non-linear optimization formula applied to a growth equation (840). Three vital coefficients are produced for the equation (850). Future traffic levels, as well as a maximum expected subscriber population, for the given cell can be estimated from the growth equation with the vital coefficients (860, 870). A possible busy hour TL and the predicted future TLs may be used to determine an optimized number of TRXs (880).

Description

Technical field [0001] In general, the present invention relates to the field of communication, and in particular, to a method and system for (i) determining or estimating the current communication volume in a wireless communication system and predicting the future communication volume in the wireless communication system and ( ii) Selectively increase resources according to the determined communication volume. Background technique [0002] Wireless communication enables users to make calls to and receive calls from various places. Wireless communication has improved security, productivity, and brought convenience, which has led to the explosive growth of most wireless networks. Meeting this explosive demand is very difficult and costly. The wireless system has been well planned before deployment, and will be updated and expanded periodically according to user needs in the future. [0003] The response to busy communication and increased traffic can include splitting a cell with ...
