Abstract

Aspects of the present invention disclose a method, computer program product, and system for governing a collection of information assets using an information governing system. The method includes the one or more processors applying one or more advanced classification allocation rules to one or more information assets in the set of information assets. Further, the method includes the one or more processors applying one or more advanced classification propagation rules to the one or more information assets provided with advanced classification assignments, and a propagation means for propagating the respective high-level classification assignments up to one or more superior information assets in the set of information assets within an inclusion hierarchy formed by the set of information assets.

Description

Background technique [0001] The present invention relates generally to the field of electronic data governance, and more particularly to governing collections of information assets. [0002] Information governance provides solutions for managing information, especially large amounts of data. Thus, the risks presented by the information are balanced against the value the information provides. A consistent and logical framework is required for handling electronically stored information to ensure this balance of use (eg, information governance policies and procedures). Policy guides appropriate behavior regarding how organizations and employees handle electronically stored information. Managed information can include many different information assets. Such information assets may include each other, resulting in different and possibly interdependent requirements regarding their processing. In order to achieve proper governance, information assets may have to be properly classi...
