Embodiment Construction

[0045] DALI is the global standard for lighting control communication. A DALI signal is a signal used to transmit DALI data from a control device to a control mechanism. Examples of control mechanisms are luminaires, sensors and dimmers. In this patent application, a logical DALI signal is defined as a signal sent to communicate between a control device and a control mechanism. The forward frame of the logical DALI signal sent by the control device to the control mechanism is in the Figure 1B shown in , and the backward frame sent by the control mechanism to the control device is in the Figure 1C shown in .

[0046] DALI data is sent by logical DALI signals encoded using Manchester encoding. Such as Figure 1A As shown in , Manchester encoding uses a rising edge 100 (low followed by high) to represent a (binary) "0". A falling edge 102 (high followed by low) represents a (binary) "1".

[0047] For a logical DALI signal, the bit time 104 is referred to as 2 Te in DALI a...

Abstract

A system for transmitting a logical Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) signal wirelessly is disclosed. The system comprises a transmitter (300) for transmitting the logical DALI signal anda receiver (302) for receiving the transmitted signal. The transmitter comprises a first coil (310) that is inductively coupled to a second coil (314) in the receiver. The transmitter comprises a first conversion module (306) that is configured to receive the logical DALI. The first conversion module, comprises a first amplifier (307) for amplifying the logical DALI signal so as to generate a drive current for the first coil to generate an induction signal in the second coil. The receiver (302) comprises the second coil (314) inductively coupled to the first coil for receiving the induction signal. Additionally, the receiver comprises a second conversion module (318) coupled to the second coil for converting the received induction signal into a reconstructed logical DALI signal. The secondconversion module comprises a bit reconstruction module (309) for converting the induction signal into the reconstructed logical DALI signal that enables the control of DALI control gear (322).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to systems, transmitters and receivers for wirelessly transmitting Logical Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI) signals. Background technique [0002] DALI, which stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is a global standard for lighting control communication. It supports many types of lights, control sensors and control devices. Typically, a control device uses DALI signals to control DALI hardware (also known as a control gear). Furthermore, DALI is suitable for a wide variety of lighting applications. DALI is provided in the control, configuration and monitoring of devices. For example, DALI can be used with dimmable drivers, presence sensors and daylight sensors to dim lights when they are redundant, thereby enabling energy savings. [0003] Conventionally, DALI signals are transmitted over wires. However, prior art lighting systems tend to rely more and more on wireless control and th...
