Abstract

The invention provides an ink jet head and an ink jet printer capable of preventing electrolysis of conductive ink. An ink jet head includes a plurality of first sidewalls, a plurality of second sidewalls, a first electrode, second electrodes, a public ink chamber and a control unit. The first electrode is formed on the bottom surface and the side surfaces in a driving pressure chamber, and the driving pressure chamber is formed between the first sidewalls and the second sidewalls. The second electrodes are formed on the side surfaces of a virtual pressure chamber, the virtual pressure chamber is formed between the first sidewalls and the second sidewalls, and the virtual pressure chamber and the driving pressure chamber are alternatively formed. The public ink chamber supplies conductive ink to the driving pressure chamber. The control unit applies a second driving voltage to the second electrodes which makes contact with the first sidewalls and the second sidewalls for forming the driving pressure chamber when a first driving voltage is applied to the first electrode and the ink is ejected from the driving pressure chamber, and when the ink is not ejected from the driving pressure chamber, the second electrodes become high impedance, and waveforms of the second driving voltage are waveforms which are at least partly inverted relative to waveforms of the first driving voltage.
