Abstract

The invention discloses a gateway deployment method and a gateway deployment device, aiming to solve the problem that services are limited due to the fact that an existing VRRP (virtual router redundancy protocol) router fails to achieve cross-region deployment. The gateway deployment method includes establishing a first VXLAN (virtual extensible local area network) tunnel with a first gateway and a second gateway which are deployed in different regions; receiving a VRRP message transmitted by the second gateway through the first VXLAN tunnel; recognizing a priority of VRRP instances configured on the second gateway based on the VRRP message; determining a primary gateway and a spare gateway in the first gateway and the second gateway based on a priority of VRRP instances configured on the first gateway and the priority of the VRRP instances configured on the second gateway. The gateway deployment method determines the primary gateway and the spare gateway by deploying the VXLAN tunnel in between and can enable the VRRP message to be transmitted through the VXLAN tunnel, so that the primary gateway and the spare gateway of a VRRP gateway are deployed more flexibly and conveniently.
