Problems solved by technology

The problem with this approach is that it often results in major degradation to other desired system parameters such as OFDM signal quality (e.g., quantifiable by the error vector magnitude (EVM) and spectral mask of the OFDM signal)
In most communication standards and systems there are stringent requirements regarding the EVM and spectral mask characteristics of the signal, thus limiting the amount of PAPR reduction achievable by soft clipping alone

Embodiment Construction

[0015] The present disclosure relates to a system and method for reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal. The PAPR systems and methods disclosed herein reduce the PAPR of OFDM signals and maintain the corresponding error vector magnitude (EVM) parameters and spectral mask parameters of OFDM signals within desired ranges. Communications standards often define stringent requirements for EVM and spectral masking and how to measure these values. EVM is a measure of transmitted signal quality and can be measured by a reference receiver. The spectral mask is the power of a signal outside its defined bandwidth. The systems and methods disclosed herein include initial processing in the time domain, followed by conversion to the frequency domain (eg, DFT) with further signal processing in the frequency domain to control EVM and spectral masking, reducing PAPR.

Abstract

This application involves the peak power ratio of the peak power ratio of the orthogonal frequency multiplex (OFDM) signal. Methods (300) include the following steps: During the first processing iteration (320, 330, 340, 350), the error vector amplitude (EVM) parameter and spectrum shielding parameters were used to use the OFDM signal's error. The input sample sequence (310) of the multi -way replica (OFDM) signal to reduce the peak power ratio (PAPR) of the OFDM signal. This method includes the following steps: the follow -up time domain sequence generated in the first processing iteration (320, 330, 340, 350), at least one other iteration in the first processing iteration (320, 330, 340, 350), andThe PAPR of the OFDM signal is reduced under the system target PAPR threshold and reduced under the threshold limit of the EVM parameter and spectrum shielding parameters.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application 62 / 098,136, entitled PEAK TO AVERAGE POWER RATIO (PAPR) REDUCTION OF OFDM SIGNALS, filed December 30, 2014, The entire content of this application is incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] The present disclosure relates to signal processing, and more particularly to a system and method for reducing the peak-to-average power ratio of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexed (OFDM) signal. Background technique [0004] The peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of a signal refers to the ratio of peak instantaneous power to average power, as measured over a period of time (or time window). Alternatively, the peak-to-average ratio also refers to the ratio of the peak amplitude of a signal envelope measured over a period of time to the average amplitude of the signal envelope. Typically, the peak-to-average power ratio character...
