Embodiment Construction

[0009] As used herein, the singular forms "a", "an" or "the" include plural references unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. As used herein, the statement that two or more parts or components are "coupled" shall mean that, whenever a link occurs, those parts either directly, or indirectly, i.e. through one or more intermediate parts or components, joint or joint operation. As used herein, "directly coupled" means that two elements are directly in contact with each other. As used herein, "fixedly coupled" or "fixed" means that two components are coupled so as to move as a unit while maintaining a constant orientation relative to each other.

[0010] As used herein, the word "integral" means a part created as a single work piece or unit. That is, a part that includes artifacts that are created separately and then coupled together as a unit is not a "unitary" part or entity. As used herein, the statement that two or more parts or components "engage" one another means ...

Abstract

The present disclosure pertains to a pressure support system (10) configured to deliver a pressurized flow of breathable gas to the airway of a subject (12). The system (10) is configured to treat obstructive sleep apnea, other sleep disordered breathing, and / or other respiratory issues with limited flow respiration therapy, and / or other therapies. Limited flow respiration therapy may be an alternative to CPAP, for example. The system (10) is configured to limit (216) flow rate compensation, pressure compensation, and / or compensation of other parameters during inspiration to values proportional to the current leak to achieve limited flow respiration therapy. In some embodiments, the system (10) comprises one or more of a pressure generator (14), a subject interface (16), one or more sensors (18), a processor (20), a user interface (22), electronic storage (24), and / or other components.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a pressure support system configured to deliver a pressurized flow of breathable gas to the airway of a subject. The pressure support system is configured to determine a compensation limit for the compensation amount of the gas parameter based on the current leak value. Background technique [0002] Systems for treating obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) are well known. Typically, OSA is managed via positive airway pressure (PAP). There are a variety of methods available to deliver PAP. The most common method is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Traditional treatments may be uncomfortable for some patients. When using positive airway pressure to force air into the airway, breathing may be uncomfortable and / or unnatural for some patients. Contents of the invention [0003] Accordingly, one or more aspects of the present disclosure relate to a pressure support system configured to deliver a pressurized flow o...
