The method comprises a first step of presetting to form a test instruction sequence file and storing the test instruction sequence file in a U disk; a second step of preforming a test result reference sequence file and storing the test result reference sequence file in the U disk; a third step of inserting the U disk in a USB interface of the set top box; a fourth step of reading and analyzing the test instruction sequence file in the U disk by a test software in the set top box; a fifth step of reading and analyzing the test result reference sequence file in the U disk; a sixth step of simulating and sending a test instruction sequentially; and a seventh step of capturing a test result in an assigned step and comparing the test result with the reference result of a corresponding step in the test result reference sequence file, if the test result and the reference result are the same, continuing the operation and returning to the sixth step till finishing the test, and completing.
