Abstract

The invention relates to the verification of the authenticity of lighting equipment. A lighting device capable of emitting coded light is provided. The lighting device has an interrogation receiver arranged to receive an interrogation and a response transmitter arranged to generate and transmit a response to the interrogation. The response is generated by means of the combined challenge and secret key. Furthermore, a corresponding checking device is provided which generates a query and provides it to the lighting device and analyzes the response in order to check the authenticity of the lighting device.
