The control method and system are applied to the household central air conditioner which performs cooling by using water. The method and the system are characterized in that firstly inlet and outlet water temperature difference between a water inlet and a water outlet of the air conditioner cooling system is obtained; then the inlet and outlet water temperature difference is respectively compared with a preset inlet and outlet water temperature difference upper limit and a preset inlet and outlet water temperature difference lower limit; if the inlet and outlet water temperature difference is smaller than the inlet and outlet water temperature difference lower limit, the rotating speed of a water pump is reduced; if the inlet and outlet water temperature difference is greater than the inlet and outlet water temperature difference upper limit, the rotating speed of the water pump is increased; if the inlet and outlet water temperature difference is between the inlet and outlet water temperature difference lower limit and the inlet and outlet water temperature difference upper limit, the current rotating speed of the water pump is maintained. By adaptively adjusting the rotating speed of the water pump through a judgment result of the inlet and outlet water temperature difference, when the inlet and outlet water temperature difference is smaller than the preset inlet and outlet water temperature difference lower limit, the rotating speed of the water pump is reduced at proper time and thus the overall energy consumption of the central air conditioner system can be reduced.
