Benefits of technology

This patented technology allows researchers to test different types of materials that have specific properties such as conductivity or porosity. By combining these two factors into one equation, they found out how well this material works when tested under certain conditions. These tests showed that it was very effective at detecting even tiny differences between them compared to previous experiments conducted on other materials.

Problems solved by technology

This patented technical problem addressed by this patents relates to accurately predicting properties called permeabilities from real-world samples obtained through various methods like X-ray tomography or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). These techniques are expensive and time-consuming processes that require specialized equipment and trained staff. Therefore there has been interest towards developing computer programs capable of analyzing these measurements quickly without having them be done manually.

Embodiment Construction

[0041] A method for testing anisotropic permeability tensor, comprising the following steps:

[0042] (1) Making rock samples: Drill rock samples with a diameter of 25mm or 38mm and a length of 60-80mm along three different directions perpendicular to the axis of the straight core, and grind to make the two ends of the rock sample flat. The calibrated reference azimuth angle is used to measure the azimuth angles of the three rock samples, and the value range is 0-360°, taking the true north direction as the reference azimuth angle; the three rock samples are marked as No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3; The azimuth angle of No. 1 rock sample is α 1 , the azimuth angle of No. 2 rock sample is α 2 , the azimuth angle of No. 3 rock sample is α 3 ;

[0043](2) Test: close the valves on the gas phase permeability meter panel; put the rock sample into the core holder of the gas phase permeability meter; tighten the rock sample upwards with a steel plunger, and tighten the hand wheel; open th...

Abstract

The invention discloses a method for testing anisotropic permeability tension. The method for testing the anisotropic permeability tension, which mainly takes invariance of permeability tension as theoretical basis, is provided, and a method for treatment of experimental data and principal value and direction of each anisotropic permeability is provided. The method for testing the anisotropic permeability tension comprises the following main steps: (1) making a rock sample, (2) testing, (3) measuring, and (4) calculating. The method for testing the anisotropic permeability tension has the advantages that tension invariance theory is taken as basis, the principle and the method are combined together; meanwhile, permeability tension can be determined only by determining permeation in three different directions, workload is small, and calculated amount is small.
