The method comprises the following steps of: acquiring sounds in a peripheral environment, and extracting a characteristic frequency spectrum of the sounds; comparing the characteristic frequency spectrum of the sounds in the peripheral environment with a preset noise characteristic frequency spectrum library, and judging whether the sounds are noise or not; if the sounds in the peripheral environment are noise, measuring and acquiring a decibel value of the sounds in the peripheral environment by the terminal; calculating and acquiring a volume value which is suitable for an environment according to the decibel value of the sounds; and regulating the volume of the terminal according to the acquired volume value which is suitable for the environment.
