A liquid crystal display device (10) and a manufacturing method therefor. The liquid crystal display device (10) has a plurality of pixel units. Each pixel unit comprises: a liquid crystal layer (13); and a pixel electrode (211) and an opposite electrode (221) disposed on two opposite sides of the liquid crystal layer (13), respectively. The opposite electrode (221) comprises: a first electrode pattern (221a, 221b, 221c, 221d) disposed corresponding to the pixel electrode (211); and a second electrode pattern (222a, 222b, 222c, 222d) connected to the first electrode pattern (221a, 221b, 221c, 221d) and used for applying an external voltage to the first electrode pattern (221a, 221b, 221c, 221d), so as to form an alignment electric field of the liquid crystal layer (10) between the first electrode pattern (221a, 221b, 221c, 221d) and the pixel electrode (211). Since the mode of applying an external voltage is changed, the external voltage is conducted from one side of a colour filter substrate, thereby increasing the success rate of liquid crystal alignment and thus lowering the energy consumption and reducing the waste.
