Embodiment Construction

[0094] For a stereo converter such as in a device according to EP2124486 or EP1850639, the optimal parameters are determined with the same inversely proportional damping λ and ρ , λ, f (or simplified parameter n), α, β in order to convert a mono signal into a corresponding pseudo-stereo signal with optimal decorrelation and volume (the quality of a stereo signal is judged by the listener the two criteria). Such a determination should be carried out with as few technical means as possible.

[0095] figure 1 Shown are the two described first logic elements for normalizing the level and for normalizing the correlation of the output signal of a stereo transformer with an MS matrix 110 (for example a stereo transformer according to EP2124486 or EP1850639) The circuit principle of , where the input signals M and S (before undergoing the amplifier located in front of the MS matrix) can optionally be fed to the Figure 7 circuit and once from Figure 6b The resulting parameter z ...

Abstract

The invention allows an optimal selection of those parameters, which form the basis of stereophonic or pseudo-stereophonic signal generation. The user is given means to determine the degree of correlation, the domain of definition, the loudness, and additional parameters of the resulting signals from a psycho-acoustic standpoint, thus avoiding artifacts. By using the invention, highly efficient encoders and decoders can be constructed, which set audio signals designated for replay by way of two or more loudspeakers to a mono signal plus a few parameters. Concrete fields of application are telecommunications (hands-free equipment), global networks, computer systems, emitting and transmitting devices, particularly satellite transmitting devices, professional audio technology, television, film and radio broadcasting, and electronic consumer goods.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to audio signals and devices and methods for generating, transmitting, transforming and reproducing audio signals. Background technique [0002] It is generally known that audio signals emitted by two or more loudspeakers give the listener the impression of space if they have different amplitudes, frequencies, propagation times or phase differences or reverberate accordingly. [0003] Such a decorrelated signal can be generated on the one hand by a differently placed acoustic conversion system, the signal of which is optionally post-processed, or by means of so-called pseudo-stereo techniques, which start from a mono-signal set out to generate such an appropriate decorrelation. [0004] Both EP2124486 and EP1850639, for example, describe a method for methodically estimating the angle of incidence of an acoustic phenomenon to be mapped, surrounded by the main axis of the microphone and the orientation axis of the sound sou...
