Embodiment Construction

[0093] Some embodiments of the present invention may provide a label printer that allows a user to change the display size of a label medium on which printing is performed while maintaining previously entered label data to be printed on the label medium. Some embodiments may provide a label printer in which such a change in the displayed size of the label stock causes a different size label stock to be selected for printing on, while maintaining the print size of the previously entered label data. Some embodiments may provide for such a change in label media display size such that the selection of the label media to be printed on is maintained while simultaneously adjusting the print size of the label data.

[0094] Some embodiments of the present invention may provide a label printer having a display that displays images representing label media and tabs (or titles) associated with a graphical control panel or information panel. Graphical control panels or information panels ...

Abstract

A label printer, comprises: input means operable by a user; display means; and control means connected to the input means and the display means. The control means are configured to control the display means to first display a header and a first image representative of a label; and, in response to receiving at the control means a signal indicative of an operation of the input means by a user to select the header, to control the display to then display a second image representative of the label and a graphical control panel associated with said header. The second image representative of the label is of a size smaller than the first image representative of the label. The display means may comprise a touch screen.

Description

technical field [0001] This invention relates to label printers for printing images onto labels, and more particularly to stand-alone label printers. The invention also relates to a method of operating a control device of a label printer and to a computer program embodied on a computer readable medium configured to control the control device of a label printer. Background technique [0002] Known label printing devices are disclosed in EP-A-322918 and EP-A-322919 (Brother Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha) and EP-A-267890 (Varitronic). Each of the label printing devices includes a cassette receiving bay or tape holding housing for receiving cassettes. In EP-A-267890, a tape retaining housing houses an ink ribbon and a substrate tape, the latter comprising an upper image receiving layer secured to a backing layer by an adhesive. In EP-A-322918 and EP-A-322919, the tape holding housing contains an ink ribbon, a transparent image receiving tape and a double-sided adhesive tape, one of t...
