Abstract

This invention relates to the inductive-switch touch-sensitive keyboards on portable terminals. As is known, if we are to keep the original fonctions of the digital keyboard on a cell-phone, the power consumption of the Gell-phone will increase when the user manually input words, and the idle time and working time of the Gell-phone will shrink. This invention, with consideration to the aboye, provides an inductive-switch user interface as well as the corresponding portable terminal, includes multiple keys, at least one of inductive devices that couples with each key, and at least one of electric-mechanical switch networks that corresponds with each of the keys. The Said inductive devices and electricmechanical switch networks are connected to the same inductive-switch circuit. When an inducting object slides within the inductive space of the said inductive device, the inductive-switch circuit will output track information on the position of the said inducting object. Likewise, when an inducting object presses the key such that at least one of the electric-mechanical switch networks is switched on, the said inductive-switch circuit will generate information about the position and state of that pressed key. The useful function of this invention lies in that it maintains the original outside structure of the cell-phone while providing functions like manual words input and cursor control.
