Embodiment Construction

[0091] Referring to Figures 7-16, since the clip 102 is typically constructed from a pair of clip lobes and a spring 104, the article 100 forming part of the clip 102 is also known as the clip lobes. The flap 100 is made up of a first portion 106 and a second portion 108 . The first part 106 has a joint or cutout 110 provided on the back side 112 of the first part 106 . The rear side 112 has a recess 114 forming a wall 116 in which the cutout 110 is formed. The front surface 118 of the first part 106 is provided with a smooth slightly curved surface, because the slightly curved surface is the outer surface of the clip 100 in a fully displayed state when the clip is in use, so it needs to be aesthetically pleasing. The first part 106 is usually made of wood through an automatic cutting or carving process.

[0092] The second part 108 has a coupling or retainer 120 that fits into the cutout 110 and can be held in place by an adhesive. The cutout 110 and retainer 120 have comp...

The article is formed from a first portion, that provides an outer surface of the clip half, and which glued or otherwise fixed to a second portion. The second portion which in use is generally obscured from view being covered by the first portion, has first and second engaging means. The first engaging means engages a support member that the clip is adapted to be attached to or it engages another first engaging means of an opposing clip half. The second engaging means engages a spring used to hold the two clip halves together.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a clip, in particular, but not limited to, an article constituting a part of the clip for use on a clothes hanger. Background technique [0002] Clips are well known for attaching garments to hangers. Such clips are basically attached to the bottom of the hanger and are used to attach various garments to the hanger. Examples of known clothes hangers are shown in Figures 1-6. Referring to FIGS. 1-3 , which illustrate a typical metal clothes hanger, the clip 10 is attached to a clothes hanger 12 by a metal rod 14 . The clip 10 consists of two clip lobes 16 which are biased relative to each other at one end by a spring 18 . The jaw 16 and spring 18 are mounted on the rod 14 through respective slots 20 and 22 . Before the rod 14 can be inserted into the body 26 of the clothes hanger 12, the rod must be straight during the step of attaching the clip 10 to the rod 14 before a bend 24 is made in the rod. Once the rod 14 i...
