Embodiment Construction

[0045] Preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described below with reference to the accompanying drawings. In the following description, well-known functions and constructions are not described in detail because their introduction in too much detail would affect the presentation of the present invention.

[0046] First, refer to the attached image 3 The structure of a MAC (Media Access Control) layer entity in a W-CDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) system using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) will be described.

[0047] The layer structure of the W-CDMA communication system using HSDPA is realized by modifying the layer structure of the current W-CDMA communication system not using HSDPA, because in addition to the SR (Selective Repeat) HARQ in the RLC (Radio Link Control) layer In addition to the function, a HARQ (Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request) function in the MAC layer is also required. The modified layer structure is introduced fo...

Abstract

A method for resetting a MAC-hs (Medium Access Control-high speed) layer entity in a communication system using HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). When an RLC (Radio Link Control) layer entity is reset due to occurrence a protocol error, the system resets both a MAC-hs layer entity of the RLC layer entity and its counterpart RLC, thus preventing unnecessary data transmission.

Description

[0001] This application claims priority to Application No. 2001-40552 filed on Jun. 6, 2001 with the Korean Industrial Property Office, entitled "Method for Resetting Media Access Control Layer Entity in Broadband CDMA Communication System Using HSDPA" right, and claims priority to Application No. 2001-51602, filed with the Korean Industrial Property Office on August 25, 2001, entitled "Method for Resetting Media Access Control Layer Entity in Broadband CDMA Communication System Using HSDPA" , the contents of both are hereby combined as a reference. technical field [0002] The present invention generally relates to communication systems employing HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), in particular to resetting MAC-hs (High Speed Media Access Control) when resetting RLC (Radio Link Control) layer entities method of the layer entity. Background technique [0003] HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) refers to a device that manages HS-DSCH (High Speed Downli...
