The user identification method includes that an electronic device monitors whether target sound waves with the frequency within a specific frequency group are received through a first sound wave processor, wherein the target sound waves are sent by a second sound wave processor through a smart remote control device; if such target sound waves are received, alternative user groups corresponding to the frequencies of the target sound waves are determined according to the preset correspondence of the user groups and the sound wave frequencies; the formal user group which users corresponding to the smart remote control device belong to when they access information is determined according to the determined alternative user groups.
