The hello message sending method comprises the following steps of: when receiving a Hello message sent by a new neighborhood RB (Routing Bridge), if a timer T has been started already, adding a VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) to which the Hello message belongs into a first VLAN set corresponding to the new neighborhood RB, and if the timer T is not started, starting the timer T and adding the VLAN to which the Hello message belongs into the first VLAN set corresponding to the new neighborhood RB; and after the timer T is time out, generating a second VLAN set according to the first VLAN set corresponding to the new neighborhood RB, and sending the Hello message by each VLAN in the second VLAN set.
