Monoclonal antibodies can be isolated and purified from hybridoma cultures by techniques well known in the art.

[0244]Mitsugumin29 (MG29): A protein related to muscle-specific synaptophysin was isolated. The skeletal muscle triad is composed of a single depressed portion of the plasma membrane (transverse or T-tubules) trapped in the cytoplasm that is juxtaposed with two portions of the terminal pool of the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR). Given the importance of the triplet in inducing muscle contraction, an antibody library was screened by immunostaining for novel proteins localized in the triplet, identifying regulators of excitation-contraction (E-C) coupling and Ca in skeletal muscle 2+ Other proteins that regulate other aspects are not surprising. One of the most important proteins identified during the screening of this library was a new member of the synaptophysin family of transmembrane proteins, mitsugumin29 (MG29).
