Embodiment Construction

[0021] The invention relates to a device and method of a digital shutter. The digital shutter is one of the components of the digital camera, which can be a digital sensor and a digital shutter manufactured separately, or a combined sensor and shutter array. Digital shutters can be made of transmissive or non-transmissive electrically controlled materials, and non-transmissive materials can be absorptive or reflective. In particular, materials having light-transmitting properties responsive to an electric field, such as liquid crystals, can be used to provide shutters.

[0022] The present invention will be described in detail below in combination with various embodiments of methods, devices and systems for understanding. In one embodiment, the device of the present invention includes a digital image sensor element array, and a digital shutter paired with the digital image sensor element array, and the device further includes a processor.

[0023] The device may further incl...

Abstract

A method and apparatus for a digital shutter is provided. The apparatus includes an array of digital image sensor elements. The apparatus also includes a digital shutter coupled to the array of digital image sensor elements. The method includes exposing an array of digital image sensors to an incoming image. The method further includes transforming a digital shutter to a non-transmissive state. The digital shutter is interposed between the array of digital image sensors and a source of the incoming image. In another embodiment, the apparatus includes means for sensing an incoming image. The apparatus also includes means for digitally blocking light from a source of the incoming image.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a camera, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a shutter of a digital camera. Background technique [0002] In the early days of photography, cameras used shutters to limit their exposure time. However, the shutter speed and construction are designed for chemically developed film. With these films, photographers have observed and experimented with exposure time and effects such as color saturation, light levels, contrast and other visual details for over a century. [0003] The advent of digital photography came with many different challenges. The technology that takes digital images tries to achieve the same effects as chemically developed film, but it uses different methods to achieve these effects. Speeds and times that photographers have experimented with on chemically developed film may not have any bearing on the requirements of good digital development. [0004] In particular, it is possibl...
