Abstract

The invention provides milk vetch LHY gene and application thereof. See SEQ ID NO:1 and 2 for the sequence of milk vetch LHY gene and its encoded protein. The present invention clones LHY gene from milk vetch for the first time, and through the genetic transformation method mediated by Agrobacterium, it is verified in Arabidopsis that LHY gene has the function of regulating plant flowering, specifically delaying plant flowering. Arabidopsis lines transfected with LHY gene showed early bolting and early flowering, and the days of bolting were 18.36 days later than the wild type on average, and the days of flowering were 20.72 days later than the wild type on average. This indicates that the LHY gene of milk vetch is closely related to flower formation, and it has the function of regulating flowering time. The application of the gene to the improvement of plant traits has a good application prospect. The LHY gene and its encoded protein provided by the invention provide valuable resources for cultivating new plant varieties.
