Abstract

The method comprises the step that with small-tailed Han sheep, poll dorset sheep, dorper sheep and texel sheep as basic flocks, a method of combining phenotypic selection with molecular marker-assisted selection is adopted, and the male parent strain of muttonsheep which are suitable for being raised in the northwest region and high in mutton quality is bred. The new strain is large in size, quick in growth and development and high in mutton yield, when the sheep are at the age of 6-8 months, the GR value is 2-2.5 cm, and the eye muscle area is 22 cm<2>. The weight of adult male sheep reaches 95 kg or above, the weight of adult female sheep reaches 70kg or above, the reproduction rate reaches 160% or above, and the method is used for male parents in a hybrid production system of mutton sheep.
