In accordance with the invention, a visitor to the Virtual World will be presented with a two- or three-dimensional depiction of a geographic terrain, and a means of virtual locomotion. For example, if the person wants to have a leisurely “stroll,” the user can “walk,” whereas, if a person wants to have a quick tour of what is available, he or she can “drive,” ride a bicycle or an airliner, as appropriate, so that the “far” locations on the terrain would take more time to reach than the “near” locations, similar to a “twitch” type of video game.
