The method comprises the following steps of: decocting 0.5-1kg of common cyanotis roots by 10L of water, or extracting by using 1-95 percent methanol or ethanol, and the ratio of the using amount of the methanol or the ethanol to the common cyanotis roots is 5L-10L to 1kg; filtering, decompressing and concentrating to obtain liquid with the relative density of 1.05-1.20; regulatinga pH value to 6-10 by using alkali; then extracting by a mixed solvent with normal butanol and ethyl acetate, wherein the ratio of the normal butanol and the ethyl acetate is 4:6-0.5:9.5; washing, decompressing and concentrating to obtain a fluid extract with the relative density of 1.2-1.3; adding 50-95 percent methanol or ethanol for dissolving and dilution, passig through overhigh alkali type anion exchange resin, and eluting, concentrating and drying in a decompressing way to obtain the ecdysone.
