According to the set strokes and radicals, codes for Chinese characters are extracted in tandem order or in accordance with compound priority principles or stroke changing rules to form a numeric coding item for Chinese characters. Then an index table of Chinese characters is formed by ranging the numeric coding items in an ascending order of natural numbers to search for Chinese characters. Software is developed for the index table and applied to Chinese character input in a computer . This invention has advantages of little memory, few rules, and low coincidence code rate, no rote learning as well as simplicity. It is very easy to master the method.
